The Cottage & Area
4 Crinan Cottages provides a tranquil, cosy base for couples looking to explore the area.
Equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, the cottage offers guests somewhere to relax and unwind, enjoying the leafy surroundings and the peace & quiet.
The living room has a comfy chaise/corner style sofa (perfect for putting your feet up!), as well as Tv and a music corner with keyboard and guitar.
The dining kitchen is a good sized space, equipped with everything you need for both short and long stays. The dishwasher, cooker, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer will be appreciated by those looking to cook whilst away. The washing machine in the utility cupboard is ideal 'just-in-case' the famous Scottish weather leaves you slightly muddy after a day out!
The bathroom has a wetroom style floor with adapted shower, so would suit those with mobility issues.
The kingsize bedroom sleeps 2, whilst there is an extra trundle bed which can be located in the living room should you wish to bring a third person/child.

The area immediately surrounding the cottage is perfect for walkers, cyclists, kayak/SUP users, and dog owners. The road from the cottage takes you down to the Crinan Canal Basin (5 minute walk), offering endless opportunities for long walks and to enjoy the scenery.
If you look carefully you might spot the swans with their cygnets (usually May/June time), or even the resident kingfishers!

The Crinan Hotel is only a 5 minute walk away, and serves excellent food, in various parts - from the roof-top restaurant, to their seafood bar (dog friendly) on the ground floor. The coffee shop (also dog friendly) does brilliant scones, coffee and cake during the season (normally March - October).

Polly's Coffee Stop is well worth the walk up the canal - normally situated at Lock 10, she serves brilliant cakes/coffee as well as various breakfast/lunch items (soup, tarts, etc). Check the Facebook page for opening times etc.​

Within the wider area, we are near Kilmartin. An area steeped in history, the Kilmartin Glen is 'considered to have one of the most important concentrations of Neolithic and Bronze Age remains in Scotland' (VisitScotland, 2024). There are over 350 ancient (150 of those prehistoric) monuments within 6 miles of the village, which include standing stones, cup & ring marked/carved rocks, forts, castles, cairns and stone circles.
The newly refurbished Kilmartin Museum is a must-see, and the attached Glen Bistro makes it ideal for a day trip. The Kilmartin Hotel is one of the most popular restaurants with locals - they are pet-friendly too.

The cottage is around an hour to Oban - making it very accessible for doing day trips to the many islands, as well as local castles etc.

Dogs are very welcome at 4 Crinan Cottages.
The owner does not limit the size/breed of dogs you can bring (within reason), and they are charged at £10 each per week (maximum 3). We just ask that you confirm in advance the number you are bringing; bring throws/blankets if you allow them on the soft furnishings; and leave the property clean and tidy.
